Wunderlich Direct Print Art Prep Guidelines

  1. Obtain a current EPS structure file from our Structural Department.  Via e-mail, or on disk.
  2. Keep all graphic elements at least ¼” away from any die lines.  If graphic elements bleed over, please bleed them ½” past the die line.
  3. Any lines must be at least 1.125 pts thick.
  4. Reversed lines must be at least 2.25 pts thick.
  5. Outlines that trap into another color MUST be at least 5 pts thick. Use bold and block fonts.
  6. Fonts containing thin areas must have lines at least 1.125 pts thick.
  7. Indicate all PMS colors to be used in the file.
  8. Convert all RGB artwork to CMYK before submission.
  9. Be aware of trapped colors.  Trap will be at least .0625” thick.  This might produce undesirable results when colors mix and form a dark line.
  10. Consider the color and type of board being printed.  Color results will vary depending on the type of board to be used with your product.
  11. Avoid placing any ink coverage on panels requiring gluing.
  12. When using gradient screens, consider that the tonal range will not print in very light areas (less than 15%) and will bleed together in dark areas (above 85%).
  13. On screened art, expect about an 85 line screen when product is printed.
  14. Large screens do not print well.  Consider using a spot color with a lighter shade instead of screening.

When submitting artwork, to limit excessive art charges, please follow these guidelines…

  1. Use the best programs for the job.  We prefer...Adobe ILLUSTRATOR
  2. Please avoid using pagination programs such as QuarkXPress, or PageMaker.  Pagination programs are not suited for an expedient completion of the job and will require extensive reworking of the graphics.
  3. When submitting any supporting BMP’s, JPG’s, TIFF’s, Photoshop files etc., please make sure that at full size, the image is 300 dpi (uninterpolated, please scan at 300 dpi).
  4. Include all fonts with the art file.
  5. Include all support images with the art file.
  6. Convert all text to outlines in Illustrator.
  7. Embed all graphics in the art file.
  8. Provide a color proof of the final file.
  9. Provide a contact name that includes phone, fax and e-mail address.
